Default PLEASE HELP. Manual Problem

First of all, its super cold out. Like -10F. So as I was driving down the highway today, I take an exit to get off. I usually hold my clutch pedal down if I want to cruise in neutral while in gear and that's what I did as I came to the stoplight. The light turned green and when I was beginning to make the turn at about 5mph, I felt and heard a snap at my foot on the clutch pedal and immediately realized I put too much pressure against the pedal. Unable to actually get the car into first to get back up and going, I was at a complete stop. The tension on the clutch felt choppy and not smooth whatsoever and I wasn't able to shift into any gears. I turned the car off and was able to shift, so I tried turning the car back on with the shifter into neutral and without using the clutch. Car didn't start. When I pushed the clutch in, the car started but I still wasn't able to shift. So I turned the car off again, shifted into first, clutched in, started, and drove. When the clutch started to engage, the car was rumbling/shaking/grinding but stopped once I dumped the pedal. I managed to get home about a mile away and all of a sudden I could shift into all of the gears, but when I released the pedal to engage the clutch, the car wouldn't move. At all. I could sit there and rev at 4k rpms in 5th or reverse at a dead stop. Saddest part of all, I smelled some burning (now I get the idea I might need to replace my clutch as well which is a pain in the *** to do) Anyone wanna tell me what's going on and how much its going to cost to get it fixed? X.x thank you so much

Only way to konw for sure is to get it fixed and this is not something you wanna do yoruself especially if you have no experiance. While clutches themselves are easy to change, you will need a lift to get the car high enough off the ground to safely do the job as the transmission needs to come out.

There are a lot of thigns that may of went wrong, it may be the clutch, it may be the transmission, but the fact that it doesn't wanna work under load is something to be concerened over. It could be a blown throw out bearing. Could also be a damaged through out plate. Another possibility is a gear or rod inside the transmission went. Point is too many things.

You're looking at anywhere from $200-800 in labor plus parts. Just depends.

So I asked my applied tech teacher about it and he said it sounds like my clutch gave out.. I asked if it could be the transmission and he said "probably not because the transmissions themselves are pretty much.... bulletproof" which is a little reassuring. Any other ideas guys? Any help is much appreciated. The pop I heard sounded right at my feet as I pushed against the clutch pedal, and again, I think I pushed too hard on it and THEN it popped.

Probably the clutch itself is completely worn but you'll never know till you take it to a shop and transmissions are not bullet proff, there are a lot of ways they can, and do fail. The Ford T-5 manual isn't exactly their best transmission ever.
