Default Tire Size Advice

Greetings. I am a first time user of this forum but have already found some great information. I cam here because I need some information from the best source: other Mustang owners.

I have a 2000 3.8 Mustang that is almost completely stock. I had the 16x7.5 rim with 225/55r16 tires on it. Long story short, I now have the 15x7 slotted three spoke rim that came on slightly older Mustangs. I now have the choice between the following tire sizes without throwing the speedometer off by much: 205/65r15, 215/60r15, or 225/60r15.

The closest in height is the 225 series but the selection is much smaller than the other sizes. Of course the stock 205 series is the cheapest but I am not sure I would like the look of a 20mm skinnier tire.

Have any of you had to make this decision before? Thoughts? Advice?

I will stick with the rim for now at least. I may or may not be keeping the car long term. Thanks.

If not planning to keep car just look at CL and ill almost bet you'll find stock rims with tires with some decent life left ....... For pretty much the same price you'll pay for tires for the 15's unless you are getting cheap cheap ones.

You can find sets of 17's on craigslist for $400, with 70% tread left, i got my set from CL for 300. 3 original silver bullit and 1 aftermarket (he had a nasty curb check on the other one) But CL can be a good friend
