Another Spark Plug question
Hey Gang, I was getting a stumble so I replaced my coil which seems to have helped (Accel 14036). I also replaced the plugs with NGK TR55's. Ford's spec for plug gap is a range from .052 to .056.
Why the range?
Does it matter where in that range I gap them?
I've read others with a performance coil gap out at up to .062 or even .064?
Anybody have any advice or recommendations?
Thanks -Ken

I have always kept mine at a .056 gap and have not had any issues. I usually change the plugs every 2 years. The gap i believe has to do with the compression ratio but its minimal difference so you should be fine either way you go. If your still getting a small stumble try replacing the wires as well, make sure they have little resistance in them, that will help as well.

Thanks Stang. I gapped mine at the biggest end of Ford's spec (.056). Seems to be working fine. I remember reading about gaps somewhere here, but can't find the post that really helped me understand.
I did the wires last year thinking it was the quickest and easiest fix for the stumble. I used MSD performance wires. It helped, but didn't kill it. So far, the new coil might have done the trick.
Anybody else have any thoughts or opinions on the gap?
