Cant Get Headers off 2001 mustang v6 ?

Default Cant Get Headers off 2001 mustang v6 ?

I bought new headers for my 6 and me and a friend tried to change them today i was able to get all the bolts out the headers and unbolt the headers from the exhuast ,but when i tried to take the header off the engine it would not move to save my life so i pried it with a flat head screw driver and it come off alittle and i was able to shack it up and down but could not get it to pull of and i riped the gasket alittle and i could get the header to pull off is there anyway i can get it off i was going to try the screw driver agian but i didnt want to ruin the gasket and than not be able to get the header of than id have a leak ?

I justed used a rebber mallet. Its a tight fit but tapping where you can helps to break the seal.

Im not trying to reuse the gaskets i have a new gasket set and new bbk headers ,I just cant get the old headers of there tight on there i can wigle them but i cant get them to pull off only reason i dont want to mess the gasket up more is because if i rip the gasket more and i still cant get the headers of than im ot going to be able to have a car to drive ? is there any way i can get the header of ? has everyone else's been this tight when removing the stock headers after 130k miles

Hope this helps, I know its a pain in the ***. I remember that the brake booster had to be removed. The black cylinder next to manifold. Look it up on Google, Good luck.

use a mallet to get them off.

I didnt have to remove the booster, just annoying to get to.

Spray it down with pb blaster, then let it sit and soak in for a bit, then try all the stuff the other guys said. And make sure you clean the old gasket material off really good before you install the new headers.
