Default head porting

If porting a 2.3 head should you leave the ridge below the intake seat? I was told it should stay there to create a Venturi effect. Is this true? All the v8 heads I have done, I have always cleaned it all out. I'm not a porting "EXPERT" but I've done a quite a few heads, but not about turbo heads and am looking for someone that knows what they aretalking for some advice. Anyone out there??? Thanks!</P>

keep this in mind with a turbo it's all about smooth flow..so I would get a 5 angle valve job with cut back valves this is worth 5-12% flow increase
