Default 01 v6 engine missing under load

Hi, I am new to this forum. I have a 01 Mustang convertible with the 3.8 engine. It has had problems with engine missing or stumbling under load. On level roads it will cruise perfectly, but on upgrads the engine loses power and seems to be missing. If I accelerate to kick out of overdrive it will run much smoother. I just replaced the spark plugs and fuel filter. The old plugs had deteriorated tips (.075 gaps), but they appeared to have been firing. The only OBDII codes that I get is 401 (insufficient EGR flow). I know that excessive EGR flow can hurt power but low flow should only affect efficiency. I am thinking that the EGR problem may be caused by misfiring or poor combustion. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Exclamation Missing

I have a 94 mustang v6. It has been acting like it is running out of gas but it has plenty. I changed the fuel filter didn't help so i changed the fuel pump didn't help much but it doesn't jerk you around as bad now. I don't know what else to do. Can someone please help me out?

Typically coils/coil packs have a low rpm/high rpm ability, your low rpm side of the cool pack may be failing to produce spark. Option 2 could be low egr flow code could cause the egr to open fully to correct for the low flow rate giving you a lot of unburnable gas in the combustion chamber that goes away because the egr closes under acceleration. Basically a faulty egr sensor. Unfortunatly I dont know how the egr flow rate is determined. It could be through the map which would rule this out but if it uses a dpfe this could be the issue.

The DFPE sensor is one of the more common sensors that go out over time on the 3.8's. It's a couple simple bolts and 2 vaccum hoses is all it takes to replace. I replaced this when I got a EGR code and problem fixed, never had a problem again.

Question 02 having transmission/idle problems pls help

I have an 02 3.8 with manual transmission. Ive had an idle and vibration (shutter sound) problem for a few months now thats been getting worse and was really bad today. when im driving sometimes the car will start to make and shutter sound and lose power itll keep goin but if i punch the gas the shutter and vibration gets worse and it wont pull. usually i can let off the gas and it stops. also sometimes starting off the car vibrates really bad and i have to feather the clutch and throttle to get goin. I assumed this was clutch or flywheel related. i can punch the gas when its acting up and it just vibrates and wont pull but my rpms dont jump up which leads me to think its not the clutch slipping. another problem thats also been happening is sometimes when i go into neutral and come to a stop my rpms will stay up around 2000 until i stop for a few seconds then they drop and sometimes while stopped the rpms drop to around 400 and the car almost stalls then they jump back up. i thought this was from the Idle Air Control Valve. today tho the cars idle was sticking and rpms dropped while i was at a red light and stayed down and almost stalled the car and when i tried taking off the car did the vibrating and shuttering i mentioned before in every gear. so i think both are related im just a little confused on what it could be. by the time i got home it finally stopped and was running normal.. anyone have advice it woulld be greatly appreciated. thanks

It will jerk at low rpms. When I gas it all it want to do is sputter and then it'll go.
