Help with decision
I might be purchasing a Procharged 2001 Ford Mustang. It has a built 4.2 stroker engine. The owner is telling me that the top end has new gaskets but that the engine is getting blow by coming from the engine(within the engine bay), not from the exhaust. This is occuring at idle but not on the highway. He said that it is normal due to the superchager. The engine has about 26k miles on it and it seems that it would be a little soon for the rings to get worn enough for blow by. I am wondering if I should just walk away or if this is "normal".
Spoke with the company that built the engine and they said it might be the way they vented the pcv system. Does this sound about right? Kind of makes sense since the white smoke isn't coming from the exhaust.
Walk away, you're just asking for it here.
But if you insist, take the car to 3 different shops and get 3 different opinions. Odds are, in 3 places you'll actually find somebody that truely knows what's causing the issue.
