Default service engine light

Hi

I have a 2004 3.9 Base model 86k miles. The other day the car would not start and had it towed in to station. The alternator needed replacing. Had it done and now the service engine light is on. Codes are P0141 and P0161. Mechanic reset and advised driving for a number of miles to see whther or not it would fix itself. The light came back on after turing the engine off.

Anyone have any advise or ideas.

Thanks
and did you need to reset or disconnect the battery or you just started the car and it was off?
Any explanation as to why this occured?

Give it at least 25 miles to self-reset.

If it bugs you, you could go to a car parts store and borrow their code reader and turn off the CEL. Since the mechanic wasn't concerned=wanting to sell more services, wait it out.

good luck.
