Default IDLE QUESTION

Just acquired an 04 5sp 3.9L with 50k miles. The car is in excellent shape but I noticed it's very slow to drop back to idle rpm between shifts and while sitting still. Is this normal?

RPMs shouyld hang about 1000 until car comes to a complete stop. Helps match RPMs.

2004 3.9L v6 5sp with 50k miles. Idles very high (over 2k rpm) between shifts, sometimes goes up between shifts. Takes some time to drop to idle when sitting at a redlight etc. Previous answer to this question was "operating as designed" and while I agree in principle this is much too exagerated. I bought this car about a week ago and it really is pristine with no mods of any kind that I can see. Could this be an EGR or IAC valve problem. It's kinda annoying to drive this way.
