4.2L engine info?
i found a 4.2 in an f150 for $250 and the junk yard will pull it out of the truck for me, which is a decent price but im still looking for the forged internals... do you know where i can get heads, valves, pushrods, lifters, and all that type stuff after i replace the crank, pistons, and camshaft?
I would use super six, unless you want to have your heads ported by a machine shop you can shop around for rods/pistons stock crank should be fine
If you want it to be ________ it will not be ____________
pick two:
-fast
-cheap
-reliable
but i guess theres never enough money to do it right once but allways enough to half *** it twice

i just put together a part list from a few different websites, just engine work, no drive train or suspention work, so just in parts for the engine i'm looking at an $8460 bill before shipping, no labor included.... thats outside of my budget at the time being.... but i was thinking maybe just do the m112 for now, maybe do the full rebuild later on down the road... what do you guys think about the m112 kit from mysteed performance? the website say that on an otherwise stock engine it usually puts down 275-300 rwhp. is this accurate? do you think its worth the money
My question is will the 4.2L/4.3 striker from Super Six tear up my transmission. I have a '96 with an auto trans and don't want to swap out for a manual, (so sue me for liking the slush box). From what I gather the autos from '96 are AODE. I don't really know much about them but I am all too familiar with the old AOD, and they were crap. You boost the engine power and it starts burning up and blowing out seals. So my question is this, can my auto trans hold
up to whatever the 4.2/4.3L can pump out, stock? Or am I gonna have to beef it up first?

Oh yeah and I've often wondered exactly how much boost can the stock V6 block withstand safely. Eventually, I plan on building up a T3/T4 hybrid turbo set up for my 'Stang, but I need to know at what pressure can I boost it to without grenading the engine. I've been told that it can take 40 psi constant with 50-60 psi spikes, but that honestly sounds a bit unrealistic without sleeves
The 4.2 doesnt give a huge boost on its own, but it gives you a good platform to build off of.... You put 6psi thru a 3.8 and its not gunna give you quite as much gain as if you run 6psi thru a 4.2.... further more, the stock 3.8 is a great engine for someone trying to run 275-350 rwhp, cuz it wont blow up on you but if you get a forged 4.2 stroker kit for it you can run 600-700 with out blowing up your engine. As stated before on a different thread, building up any car is a bad investment cuz you will never get your money back but if its what you wanna do and you are serious about building a high performance v6 stang, the 4.2 stroker is a great place to start
