Your in the wrong section bud, save the money and do a gear swap on your mustang. That will wake it up. What year is the mustang?

98 3.8l v6, and yeah someone else recommended a gear swap before - 3.73 is the one to get?

will this kill gas MPG a lot?

i saw on wikipedia that my stang only has like 150 hp, will i still be okay with the gearswap, is it because my car is lighter?

xbox ftw btw!!!

how exactly is a gear swap done? do i just take it to a shop and say, i want 3.73 gears!!!? or do i need to buy a new transmission and get it installed? how much will this gear swap cost about?

also been doing research, what exactly is a limited slip differential trac lock??

and i saw on americanmuscle.com that just a 80$ underdrive pulley from BBK can give me 15 HP??? says i need a 6rib 96" serpentine belt....will this work? http://www.speedlogixstore.com/produ...tr-4060960.htm

are you a manual or auto? the general rule is 3.73 for manual, 4.10 for automatic. If you do a lot fo around town driving, you might actually see better mpg sicne the engine has less strain to get the car moving. right now, you should have a 3.08 gearing which is good for highway, not as good in city.

horsepwer and rear gearing have no correlation to one another- but its the easiest way to make a lower-powered car accellerate and feel faster.

go to www.americanmuscle.com and look up gear swaps- there is a whole section of it. youll want the gears themselves, installation kit, and either a tuner or new transmission speedo gear to correct your speedometer. you will also want to consider getting a trac-lok differential- this allows both wheels to get power, rather then the one that spins easiest. A standard trac-lok will do this by a series of clutches within the differential. This should be available from FRPP, summitracing, or jegs. plan on somewhere around 4-500 all said and done, but one of the most worthwhile mods on ANY mustang.

as for the underdrive pulley, they are another decent part- but if you want one, I have a MAC 25% pulley AND belt sitting unused in a box in my parts stash (ask anyone about my stash- its huge. giggity). It can be yours for a chunk less then that one!

You need a trac lok for a 7.5" differential, not the 8.8, it wont fit.

god damn it! i calculated some things and all the money it will cost to make my car somewhat fast, would have been cheaper to find a gt - but even the gt mustangs don't get much power til like 99-04 unless u get a 5.0

I thought about getting a civic and upgrading it like need for speed, but even that gets expensive and isn't worth it unless u really like civics - seems like unless u get Si, civics are just designed to get you to work.

Pretty mad cuz I literally just got this car in like january, but at the time I just wanted it for looks - but now I'm kicking myself for how slow it feels. Thinking of just making it a show car. v6 mustang is still cool right? i personally rather have it than a hyundai tiburon just to be faster. most chix dont even know what a tiburon is!

any one else here just have v6 mustang for show rather than racing? what are some good mods u recommend to make my car more attractive? i plan to repaint it black when i get more $ would that be nice?

Looking good is much easier than going fast.
What look do you want? Muscle car? Street machine? Little visual mods? Full Cobra look?

looking good sounds good to me

right now i got 98 v6 dark greenish mustang (got pic in my avatar)

so far i got the stock rims, had em painted black. and tinted the front headlights.

Not sure what the looks are, but Muscle car sounds good to me! not really sure what else I should do to look better? maybe get bigger and chrome rims? don't really want flames or anything, but maybe racing stripes?

Not sure if i should tint windows, cuz law here is 50% which hardly looks tinted at all to me. and I kinda want people to see me funny cuz in highschool in texas i'd tint everything, my car, my dog, my clothes....everything!!

what would ya recommend? heres what I got now

tined front lights
painted black stock rims
air intake silencer removed + k&n drop in
plan to get a thrush turbo muffler on tuesday installed in my single exhaust (going dual too expensive here for me is it okay just to have single exhaust and a nice muffler?)

other wise thinking of racing stripes and or getting rims sometime in the christmas. what size looks best? 17" chrome or maybe 17 black with a chrome lip? (remember im not rich!!)

what else ya recommend?
