Default Driving in the Rain

I've recently found that driving my mustang is extremely hard in the rain, and I live in FL where it rains like everyday. I spin the tires like crazy when I take off from a stop. Do most of you guys take off in second gear in rainy conditions? Also is there anything to help my car get more traction, besides tires? I literally spun out on a very busy highway pulling out of Wal-Mart and that wasnt very fun. I almost ran up a curb and messed some stuff up. Thanks for any help and advice.

My only suggestion is to get your foot out of the engine bay. I have the same problem when I hit the accellerator hard on rainy roads, but every high powered car does. Now you got to remember that in rainy conditions you CAN NOT hit the gas hard. Now replacing your tires will help quite a bit. I have an automatic, but you are not supposed to take off in second gear. When at a stop shift down to first, then to second and so on, I'm suprised that you havn't damaged your transmission doing this. Another thing that would help is to get a t-lok installed. This is a differential that shifts power to both wheels instead of just your back right wheel. Do this and quit tring to show off or race in the rain and you will be fine, remember save the fun for the dry days.

Yeah, I had my problems with this, once i was just pulling out where there was a small hill and i could hardly get the wheels to stick at all.
I learned my lesson after having my car a couple weeks...I turned at an intersection going left, turned a bit too tight and pressing a bit too hard on the gas and basically slid around the whole turn. My car was almost sideways drifting across the intersection but i was able to countersteer and let of the gas and was fine. Somehow stayed within the lane. Scared me, but atleast i learned my lesson without getting hurt or hurting my stang!

I have a GT 5-speed and have no problem spinning out in the rain. Like jthorn said lay off the gas and maybe look into new tires.

Better not downshift before you stop, talk about some major spinnage if your not careful.
