Because the Tlok is very famous for failure under stock loads. It's not a very well constructed differential.

I had 4.10s and my diff blow after about 75,000 miles on it. I changed to 3.73. Slow, can't spin the tires as easy, but its still quick and I got a boost in mileage of about 4-5 mpg over my 4.10s.

holy crap - what MPG were you getting with 4.10s?

With everything else i had on the car, i was getting about 10-11 mpg. Now im getting close to 14-15
