IMO if you cant afford to pay a vehicle off in a 36 month note you probably cant afford the vehicle, don't forget you are going to have sales tax and excise tax along with a nice bump in insurance

UPDATE
I started off driving mostly city, not babying the car by any means... I was averaging 19-20 MPG. I moved, my driving became about 60-65% HWY, and 35-40% CTY/MTN, I started babying my car like an 89 year old woman.... not reving above 2k rpms at all unless im in 4th gear on the freeway, and I am currently averaging 25MPG.

My next step is to do a full tune up, low resistance plug wires, new coil, all new filters, injector cleaner, and full synthetic oil change, after I run a few tanks of gas thru I will post the results.

use the Techron fuel system cleaner run it with about 1/4 tank that should help clean out all the bad deposits and build up gunk...

Glad you looked at the math and got it figured out.
We did the same thing when looking at adding the C-SVT. It's actually cheaper per month to pay for the Contour when you factor in the fuel savings over the Mustang. But my fuel cost was over $600/month with how much I drive. And the C-SVT cut that in half with it's fuel economy. That gave me $300/month to play with to cover an additional car and everything related.

I wasn't going to go there, but...

IMO if you can't pay out of pocket, you shouldn't buy the car. Loans on depreciating assets are a good way to waste lots of money. But, I realize I'm in the minority on this topic.

There is no way I would finance a vehicle more then a few years old, the only good thing about depreciating a vehicle is its a tax write off if you use it for work

UPDATE #2
put 2 12'' subs in and my mpg dropped to about 23-24 MPG, took em out and it went back up to 25MPG... Thinkin about getting a better alternator and just running an 8'' kicker sub with 100w-200w amp.

One question....what in the hell do you need 2 12" subs for???

I'm running a single 12" sub in the back of each of my Mustangs and that's way more than enough boom. More than my Shaker 500 can keep up with so I have to retard the amp a little.

But then again I'm running 330 rms watts.

i had them laying around from my brother's yukon that he rolled. he said that i can use them while he is in Afghanistan, so i thru them in my stang. it was too much bass for a car that small and it brought down my mpg so yea... now im looking at an 8'' sub, its small puts out just enough bass and wont kill my trunk space. theres also a set of 6 1/2'' alpines that i was going to put in the doors, i know that the door speakers are 6x8's but i have done this before and i can make it work. plus with the door covers on u wont be able to tell the difference anyways. they have nice bass and alpine has always made good speakers
