1999 convertible had a bad emergency parking brake switch which caused the convertible top to get stuck in the down position. Due to approaching storms, my daughter and her friends were able to close the top . I replaced the switch and now the top closes but is 5 inches from the windshield. When you pull the top frame to lock it in, a buckle develops on the drivers and passengers side frame. It doesn't appear that they bent anything but something is definitely out of whack. The windows don't come close to sealing. Any ideas?

Clearly something is out of alignment and/or bent. It is hard to say what it is without having the car in front of me. I’d start poking around looking for what is binding when you try to close it. Failing that, take it to a convertible shop to take a look at. Good luck...
