Default 2000 3.8 Exhaust Manifold Crack...

I have a 2000 Mustang V6 with around 150k miles. The passenger side exhaust manifold cracked which is common on these motors. The crack is just below the last runner right by the hook up with the mid pipe. Its not a very wide crack and I was wondering if there was any cheaper way to go about "fixing" the manifold vs buying a new one. I have experience with welding if that counts for anything.

Also will 94 3.8 V6 manifold fit on a 2000 3.8 V6? Thanks

Yes the 94-98 manifold actually flows better. But you will have to drill the stud holes out a bit if I remember correctly. If your gonna replace the one with an older manifold make sure you replace both.

No you dont have to drill or anything it uses the same gaskets and everything. I did this same swap on my 2000 3.8 its a pain in the *** tho. lol.

Forget welding it, you would have much better success brazing it. You would have to use a die grinder with a rounded tungsten/carbide bit to grind the crack a little into a U shape. Then get a special brazing rod for cast iron. And of coarse the oxy/acetylene to heat it with. I have brazed cast iron before and it held up quite well for years on my old f150 that had a cracked exaust manifold.
My advice is to replace it though.
