Error Code - P0340 - Camshaft Position Sensor
Hello there,
Engine light came on, plugged in the OBD2 device, and got the following information:
P0340 Generic
Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit (Bank 1 or single sensor)
Here is an image:

I've got a 1995 3.8L V6. I don't know where this camshaft position sensor is located, and if anyone who has seen this error and replaced this sensor could offer some help and advice, possibly even a photo of its location, I would very very grateful. Any advice concerning fixing this issue is appreciated.
After the error first appeared, I changed all the spark plugs and cables, and even replaced the alternator as quite a number of people reported that diodes inside the alternator were going bad, and replacing the alternator worked for them. In my case, new plugs/wires and an alternator have not fixed the problem.

Before you start doing anything, detach the cable from the negative terminal of the battery.
Installation:
On my 1995 3.8L V6 Mustang, the Camshaft Position Sensor is located right beneath the Coil Pack (for beginners, that's the part where all the spark plug cables plug into). There are four bolts holding the coil pack in place, I had to remove one of the plugs to get access to one. Directly beneath the mounting bracket is the Camshaft Position Sensor. There is an electrical cable plugged into the sensor, unplug that. There are two bolts on either side holding the sensor in place. It's a tight space to work in, but I was able to fit a 1/4" socket wrench in there to do the loosening. When installing the new one, do not overtighten the bolts! Get everything put back together again and you're done. Quick and easy job.
Check out the following photos.
Above the coil pack. One plug removed to access the top left bolt.

Right beneath the coil pack mounting bracket is the sensor.

Hope this helps out everyone who'd like to save some money and fix that engine light error on their own. It cost me $30 or so for the sensor, and it's extremely easy to replace!
