Default Longtubes and Backfiring

I tried to find a alike thread on here and couldn't find it, so I just bought a new exhaust system in my car MAC long tube headers, MAC o/r shorty h-pipe and Borla catback exhaust. I also bought a SCT 4-bank eliminator chip. When I put in the exhaust I rode around in it for a day and it sounded good nothing wrong. so I put in the chip and it wasn't performing the right way, my stock tune was way faster then the actual tunes themselves. so I took the chip out and it snowed the next day and it was feeling sluggish and "putsey" and I heard a backfire so I don't know whats going on. I unplugged the battery to "reset" the computer. it seemed to make it better but it is still "bogging down" by the way its for a 1994 3.8l mustang. can anyone help try diagnosing the problem

I found that the 4bank chip does not work that well with the generic canned tunes it comes with. For it to function properly you're gonna need to find a local shop with a dyno that also does software tuning for those SCT chips.

you could of foul'd out one of your plugs too because of the chip,(chip making it to rich) so check your plugs to be on the sure side.

You do not need hotter plugs, you need to get that chip properly tuned.

I personally like the Tweecer RT system, but it's fairly expensive and is gonna be over kill for the V6. If you do want to go this route be prepared for a huge learning curve and not being able to find a shop that knows how to use it. It literally modifies each parameter in the ECU to your liking. It's by no means an plug and go tuner like the SCT, Bama, Diablo, Sniper, etc.

Anderson motorsport PMS tuner (yes don't make fun) is also amazing, but is double the price of the Tweecer and is gonna be beyond over kill.

Well the chip is no longer in it, so the tunes and what not should have stopped... that's why im thinking Ill need new plugs... but if you believe I still need to get it tuned im all for it

If it worked fine before the chip went in, then suddenly didn't, then you need to remove the plugs and check them out. Look for signs of overheating (lean) or foul (rich) and address from there.

I personally do not like chips and would recommend tossing that thing in the trash can. I made the mistake of buying that same chip to my 5.0 only to find out nobody has the software to tune it.
