Default Rear end noise at low speed

I have a 2004 Mustang with 220k miles and the rear end squeaks when coasting/rolling at low speeds. Once I hit either the accelerator or brake it stops. It isn't the high-pitch squeak I usually associate with brakes rubbing (and I've been told my brakes are fine); sounds slightly lower pitched to me. Any ideas?

Does it stop when you make a turn at all? Its most likely the wheel bearings, but you cant rule out carrier bearings or pinion bearing.

I don't recall ever hearing it while turning but I really wouldn't expect to because as soon as I hit either of the peddles, brake or accelerator, it stops. Presuming it is the wheel bearings what should that run to fix - I don't have the tools/equipment to do it myself?

I really cant tell you what it would cost to have a garage fix it for you, but givin the proper tools Id guess it would be a couple of hrs of labor in a shop setting and an experienced mechanic. Of course the shop will mark up the parts and fluids. They will also charge you for shop supplies such as shop towels and other added costs. Depending on labor rates , you could be looking at 200-300 bucks, that is just a guess.
