Default Speedo cable

How hard is it to replace the speedo cable? A year or so ago I notice what looked like a hole worn through the rubber. Today I was in a traffic jam and the speedometer was bouncing between 0 and 20mph when I was barely going 1mph.

I’m pretty sure (at least) ’94 and newer mustangs have electrically controlled speedo’s instead of cable driven.

The problem isnt the cable. If its like the foxes, the problem is in the cluster.

Ah, I see what tripped me up. I saw they sell gears for the sn95 and assumed that meant it was cable driven. You think my speed sensor is acting up then?

I should also look closer at whatever that was with a hole in it. It came out of the front driver side of the transmission, T5 by the way, and goes straight up the engine bay next to the steering.

You mean the odometer gears? I've already replaced them and everything else in the cluster is electronic.

If your odometer works then the issue is with the speedometer motor or gearing. as all that runs off the same electronic signal from the trans
