Default What to watch out for... 97 V6 convertible

I'm looking at a 97 V6 convertible to use as a daily driver. The car has 134,000 miles, and is cosmetically kind of beat up, but runs and drives good. Are there any specific things I should be looking out for before I buy it? Any common issues ?

Thanks, Importsmasher

Nobody? Must mean these cars have no problems, right (lol)? I did a little searching and didn't find anything significant. I'm hoping to pick up the car today or tomorrow.

Pre 99 V6 Mustangs are more prone to head gasket failures, but that's really about it. Look for any signs of leaks from the top, pop the back seat bottom out and look there. and rust around the wheel wells, torque boxes. If it's an auto make sure all the shifts are smooth and time right.

Thanks! I did see some references to head gaskets , but I'm more than capable of fixing that if the need arises. The car runs great , the trans shifts perfectly , and there's no rust or structural damage , just small dents and dings.it needs a new top , but I can do that as well .

Sounds like a good deal then- as said, headgaskets are about the only consistant problem.
