Default Muffler Replacement

I have a 99 V6 Basic convertible. It has a single muffler and exhaust. I would like to get a better sound than factory but really don't want to replace from the engine back.
Can anyone suggest a muffler replacement that would at least give a better sound?

Almost any aftermarket replacement will give a better sound than stock. I guess it all depends on what kind of budget you got. Magnaflows are always a good choice if you are unsure. Listen to some of the sound clips on the manufacturer's websites and on YouTube. You can get a good idea on what to expect from different exhaust systems.

Replacing just the factory muffler will be largely a waste as it will barely change the tone. To get the best result you need to change the exhaust from the cats back with a true dual exhaust.

When my wife had a 2002 vert it had a Flowmaster 40 on it and it sounded pretty good for a single exhaust.
