ok so I have a 98 3.8 base model over the last couple of weeks it started having a hard start we assumed it was due to the cold weather at first but it eventually starting dying at red lights stop signs and now wont start at all the only code we are getting back is a to lean o2 bank 1 sensor ive had it looked at and they said its not getting spark we have replaced the crank shaft sensor check filters and vacuum hoses could an o2 sensor cause this? im running out of ideas and money is to tight to keep playing the guessing game any advice is welcome

 

Lean O2 sensor reading usually indicates not enough fuel. Start by checking your fuel pressure (should be around 40 I believe), fuel filter and/or fuel pump.

 

I'd start with a basic tune up and cheap stuff first
- clean your MAF sensor
- clean your Throttle Body and Idle Air Controller valve
- check for vacuum leaks on your hoses
- replace fuel filter

a lean code is mostly caused by vacuum leaks, could be a hose or valve cover gaskets. it could also be be a fuel filter and/or injector issue.

I doubt it's an 02 sensor issue.

ok so I have cleaned the throttle body and the iac and maf I have checked hoses even went ahead and replaced the egr since it was still factory but I am not getting spark so I have replaced the crank sensor and waiting to get a ride to autozone so I can do plus and wires apparently the ones I bought last year had a recall and they don't notify
