Mystery Part left over ???
Greetings... Hope someone can identify this part... I have been working on a 2002 Mustang convertible (steering rack, timing chain, water pump, starter, power steering pump, brakes)... Had a friend helping and he went out of town... This spacer is left over... didn't see it come off and haven't for the life of me been able to figure where it goes... Has a bevel indentation and a tapered outer edge of one side and a lipped edge on the other approx. a little under 1 1/2" wide with approx 7/8" center hole and approx 1/2" thick... thanks for any help

Still Confused
Thanks for the reply... i also believe it is steering related... as it is too small to fit on crankshaft to go behind harmonic balancer... haven't found anything that needed spacing on air compressor, power steering pump, water pump, alternator... it does fit on the "tubes" mounting rack & pinion... but can't be sure of placement as there is only the one...
We cleaned off the work bench at the beginning of this project and this is the only part left... I had cleaned it up as it did have corrosion on it...
I took it to ford dealership parts dept. he printed out schematic of rack mounting system and that doesn't show it... went to mechanic who tried to tell me it held in the inner tie rod ends... however, he could not answer how it would end up on my bench as the tie rod boots never came off either the new or old unit, and even the core went back complete with the older tie rod ends still attatched...
I am avoiding putting fluid in the steering pump until I get a conclusion on this as I don't want to drain the system if I need to pull it back off...
thanks again...

Still stumped
Sorry for the late reply guys thank you for your responses I've been out of town the last couple weeks and my phone wouldn't let me log in... and I understand about the throwout bearing look alike but transmission has never been out of this car and it's an automatic and there were no lawnmowers disassembled this was the only project being worked on and the bench was empty when I started thanks again guys
