Strange Overheating issue
Hey all, so I have quite an interesting issue, my 2004 3.9L mustang overheats after heavy acceleration it seems, I let it idle for probably an hour and it never over heats, I drive it under 2500 rpm and it doesn't overheat. Though when I floor it the ac goes hot and the temperature quickly over heats.
I have done a coolant flush about a month or two before after my upper heater core hose burst.
I have also checked the thermostat by putting it in boiling water and it opens.
My fan also turns on so it's not that.
I can really only think of my water pump and a clogged radiator. Any thoughts? thanks in advance.
P.S. I really don't have the money to take it to a mechanic so any advice would help.

I also remembered that before the engine overheated the transmission started shifting rough and I could smell what I assume to be the transmission over heating. The next day I drove it and it wasn't shifting rough so I floored it and then the engine over heated almost instantly. Ever since then the transmission only shifts rough when the engine starts to over heat...
