Default Fuel Filter

I have a 96 V6 and I got my oil changed today and it was recomended that I change my fuel filter, I would have had them do that but they were trying to scam me on some other stuff like by saying I need a tranny flush but i actually had that done 2 months ago so i told them they were full of ****. The fuel filter I can believe though because my fuel consumption kinda sucks right now. So I was wondering if anyone knows how to do that and could give me some advise on it and is it very hard to change the filter out.

Fuel filter is a piece of cake. $10 bucks tops for the filter and Maybe a $6 tool from autozone. It's under the car behind the differential in front of the gas tank. Not sure of 96 but the 99+ have fuel clips that require a fuel line disconnect tool to pop the lines off the filter. You may luck out and just need some needle nose pliers. Eitherway, get the tool, if you don't need it, return it. You have 5/16" fuel lines. Important for the size tool you will need.

Make sure you relieve the fuel pressure before you disconnect the lines or you will get a nice shot of gas in your face.

ahh yes doing fuel filters at jiffy lube. I use to work there and whenever we would get someone to do a fuel filter we would do it and take the fuel filter and dump the access gas on the floor and light it on fire. I miss those good old days haha. But yea it is simple should only take you the time it takes to jack up the car. Which means about 10 minutes max.

Ok I got excieted to work on my car so I ended up doing it tonight and it went well I ended up not needing to buy any special tool, the lines unplugged easily, but the filter was harder to pull out than I thought it would be so what im trying to say is if you need a new fuel filter do it your self and save the money.
