Fuel issue?
I have a 2001 3.8 v6. The car ran fine for around ten months with no real big problems. Out of no where it lost power and died on me one day as I was coming home from work. Immediately it looked like there was some sort of fuel problem. Air seemed to keep building up in the lines. A “mechanic” friend of mine insisted that it had to be the fuel pump. I didn’t think so because I could hear it prime perfectly every time I checked it. None the less I changed the fuel pump. There was a little debris from the old pumps filter disintegrating in the tank but it looked good otherwise. I got everything back together and the car fired up and ran great...for 20 mins before it began sputtering. It’ll run rough and sputter for about 5 mins after that and die. There still seems to be a build up of air in the lines but I don’t know where it is coming from. I put a knew fuel filter in it as well but the car still won’t stay running. I’m at a total loss on what to do and frustrated enough to shoot the car. Every guy I talk to has a different suggestion from fuel regulator or catalytic converter to temp sensor and coil packs. I personally suspect that it is the fuel injectors. This is a rather expensive problem to have and I don’t want to wast money if I don’t have to. Any suggestions?

Also, I don’t know if it could be related but I have noticed that this does drink a lot more gas than my last v6 stang. Around 15 mpg give or take a little. I never thought much of it but maybe a bad part has been causing that?
