I recently was gifted a 2001 v6 that had sat idle for 7+ years - I've been working on getting it running and it has been a great experience so far. I've been using this forum as a resource and it is one of the best sources of information that i have found. Thank you to everyone who has contributed.
my question:
I busted one of the connectors on the end of what I believe is an evap hose while I was replacing the fuel pump. This particular hose in question has a connector that I have not been able to find and was hoping to get some help on what to call these things.
I have attached a few pics that I hope will help
The first shows the connector i need to get, it is the side of the hose that i was able to get off without breaking the connector
The second pic shows the busted side.
The third pic shows where the hose is located/attached on the underside of the car.
Lastly, the 4th pic shows where this hose connects to the fuel tank.
Any insight I can get on what to call this hose and its connectors would be awesome. I have a chiltons manual, I've done some googling, etc and been to several auto parts stores with no luck...
Thank you for reading and thank you for any help you might be able to give.
You're on the right track. Those are evap hoses and evap connectors. I did my tank last year and one or two of the ends came apart to and I just popped them right back on with no issue. They should click into place, the extra bit of plastic is there for insurance in case it comes loose.
Or look up evap fuel line hoses and connectors and you can build what you need for very cheap. Just figure out the size of everything. Or just buy a small piece or two of different sizes to be 100% before you buy what you need. All lines on cars are just prefabricated. Don't ever let that stop you from making your own. It a fun process in itself.
I ended up just using the same line in the photos, things seem to hold even without the fastener part that I broke.
the car does still have some issues, I will post something else on that. I don't think it is related, but I also am not an expert on any of this.
very delayed response, i know... just wanted to close the loop and let you know that I did see this when you posted it way back when and it was helpful to my process, thank you again for the reply.
