2000 V6 FIRST TIME BUYER HELP
Hey everyone, first post here, thanks for having me
A few months ago I posted up a 86 gsxr project for sale and have had no messages at all until the other day somebody offered to trade me a running and driving manual 2000 v6 mustang. The body is at 170k miles and the drivetrain is at 80k miles I believe, and this is the third motor if im adding things up right from what he told me, and he is the one who swapped the drivetrain into this car. He said he will drive the car to me and it is a three hour drive one way so that does give me some Confidence in the car but still im not a car guy so im on the fence about it.
Anyways since I haven't had any interest in my bike I figure its not a bad trade if it is a good car, at the least I can sell it for the 2 grand im asking for my bike.
So, what im wondering is, what are things that i need to look for as a potential buyer?
I do know the 99-00 valve covers need to be replaced as they suck up too much oil and can ruin the combustion chamber, and the intake manifold can leak and apparently have coolant enter the motor, and the coils can go out. I also read that the spark plugs can shoot out the head due to there not being enough threads for the plug to stay in.
With these things at mind, what's your advice on the things I mentioned and also what things do I need to look for that I didnt mention.
Im pretty handy with stuff, I have built a few motorcycles and one completely ground up motor and all, but i never have worked on cars other than fluid changes and tire changes.
I do have access to a hydraulic lift so what should I look for or inspect if I have clear access to the underside of the car?
if by chance is there somebody here that I can send photos and videos of the car and let me know if all looks and seems good?
