Default Computer Tune

Hey guys I have a 96 v6 auto with true duals, CAI, and underdrive pulleys, and tomorrow im doing a computer tune. What all should I change on the ecm? What do you think I should change the rev limiter to, shiftpoints, and anything else? What kind of power increase should I see and how will my gas mileage be affected? Thanks for the help.

Are you doing the tune or is a pro? Any way, I reset my idel revs in gear to 1200 rpms for a quicker boost off of the line, raised my rev limitator to 6250 rpms, for a nice top speed, the shift points have been reset to 5000 rpms across, the board, still debating on if this really helps, you should get a pro to do your shift pressure, reset your torque settings, and reset your fuel to either leaner or richer.

Ya I've got a buddy in my fraternity that has a several thousand dollar computer that came out of his grandpa's shop that can tune pretty much any cars computer, and he has done it on several cars now. Im just trying to figure out some some of the settings to start with so I dont have to guess and check so much. 6250 for a rev limiter seems really high, what is stock?

Stock it's 5800 RPM. Booze has his set at 6300, and I have mine set at 6250. That don't mean we hit it all the time. BUT, IF you're in a race, it will help a LOT. I don't know about the pre 99's, but the 99-04's can definatly take it. I also set my shift pressures at 80psi across the board. And I do use that a lot. And have had no problems yet. It's sweet to ahve your V6 bark second and third gear shifts! If you go that way, just be careful in the rain/snow when you corner. It is real easy to lose the rear end!! I KNOW!!! I almost bit it against a tree![:@] Unless your bud knows what he's doing, and has an Air/Fuel meter, stay away from the F/I settings. You can really do damage if they are off even just a bit. Have a pro do that.

you can chirp second in an almost stock V-6

i dont think the single ports can take 6000 rpm. i dont even take my split port up that high. I have a question on this, can a hand heald tuner be used on more than one car?

Single port, no problem at 6250. Remember the blocks are exactly the same, its only the intake setup that's different.

I second that! And, YES, you can use your tuner on more than one car...as long as it's the same type of vehicle...
