Default Shifter Locker

Hi All,

Seen some nice work done in here.

I have spent the last 4 months moding my 05, V6, 5 Spd Stick, to my specifications. The last two items on my are:

1. I don't like the V6 manual shifter. Slow to shift (maybe the syncros) and to rachety (doesn't drop in properly). Does anyone know how to fix this or does the transmission have to be replaced?

2. I really need a locking rear end. Can a locker be added to the 7.5" diff or does the whole rear end have to be replaced?

1. You can install a new Steeda shifter. That may solve the problem.
2. You can put in a T-Lok unit in the dif. This makes it a possi unit. While you're at it, change the gear ratio to 3.73's.

Manual tranny. 3.73's are recommended for manuals, 4.10's for auto's. It has to do with the diference in gearing in the tranny.

don't even bother putting the Ford T-lok unit in. they are weak and will not handle much abuse with a manual transmission. the spyder gears are small and give out.

the best and strongest Limited slip differential on the market for the 7.5 rear is the Detroit TrueTrac. it eliminates the only real weak spot in the 7.5 rear which is the ford differentials

you can get the truetrac for about $350 from here
http://www.drivetrainspecialists.com...duct-5407.html
the price isn't listed but $354.00 is what they sell them for

you also should get a gear install kit. it contains all new bearings, shims, seals and chrush sleeve here is a link
http://www.drivetrainspecialists.com...ford-75-1.html

4.10's would be perfect for your rev happy 4.0L SOHC the 3.8's really don't need them or make power up high like the 4.0 does. go with the 4.10's you wont regret it

you can have everything installed at a reputable tranny shop. expect to pay about $250-$350

also follow a proper break-in procedure to seat the new bearings properly. if you don't you can cause slop in the bearings causing a weak rear end
