Default quick help....

I was looking at some 4.10 motive gears on summit racing. There is a note on the ones I need that says "Requires shortened cross shaft. Will not fit Auburn carrier." What exactly does this mean? Will it still fit my 03 V6 or is there something else I'll need if I went with these? Any ideas out there?

Get some FRPP gears and a OEM Ford T-Lok; absolutely no fitment problems with them. The Auburn is a stronger unit but unless you're going to seriously abuse your rear end the T-Lok is more than adequate.

I already have the ford T-lok. I want motive gears. I called summit and they said this part number will work with my 03 V6, but I would need a cross shaft with it. Which is 30 bucks so its no big deal. He then said as long as my car doesn't have an auburn carrier it would work. My question is what the heck is an auburn carrier, and does my car have it????

Auburn is another manufacturer of the possi unit. Get the FRPP's....No cross shaft needed.

Well all I need to know is will what I have work. I have the ford T-lok, ordered 4.10 motive gears for the 7.5 rear end, and the cross shaft. I just want to know if this is correct before I take it to a shop for installation if it isn't going to work....See what I'm saying? I was going to get frpp but everyone I talked to said they are on backorder for at least 2 weeks. I hear motive is just as good so I went with those.......So will this work?

Your car does not have an Auburn unit stock, so that is not an issue. Since you were already going to use a T-Lok anyway, you shouldn't need to use new cross shaft because of it, but as you indicated the Summit web site says a shortened cross shaft is required with the Motive gear set. Is your T-Lok new? The shop you go to can grind your existing cross shaft down to fit, but whether they do that or use the new shorter one you ordered the T-Lok must be opened up to install it, which seems to be a little extra unwanted aggravation that may involve extra labor costs. I would have simply waited two weeks for the FRPP gears myself, but that doesn't matter here. People often say the Motive gears are cheaper in justifying going with them instead, but if you add a new $30 cross shaft to use them was it worth it to save a whopping $10?

BTW what you have ordered will work.
