WORTH IT??????????
Well that's the question I've been asking myself for a while now. Me I've decided that I am, sometime in the near future, going to get a GT or a Cobra. If its a GT, I'm hoping to land either a 94-98, a 02-04, or just get a new one, or I'm considering 2000 and back Cobras. For me, it just doesn't seem reasonable to dump tons of money into an automattic 94-98, when you could sell the car, spend the difference in price and get a GT that already has the power you are looking for. Don't worry about the gas thing, because moding a V6 will also cause lower gas milage, maybe lower than a GT with the same hp, now a GT for me would get about the same as my six since I do mostly hwy time, and insurence is almost the same as a six, or just slightly higher, so I would say, sell the auto and get a GT, or sell the auto and get a 99-04 manual six, if you like the style, now those are worth moding.
yeah thats what i would like to do because my 97 is in ment condition interior has no scratches and the car only has 86,000 miles maybee i could sell it for 3,000 and save up another 3,000 and get a gt......do you know what the price differnce would be to put a 5 speed clutch in instead of a auto???????
Personally, I think 3K is a little low, you could probably easily get 6K for the car, since Ford would probably sell her for 7K+, so if you get 6K for the car you could easily land a 94-98 GT with only paying maybe 5-8K, well unless you go through Ford, a 99-04 will definitly be more expensive, I'm thinking at least 8K for 99s and 15K for an 04. Or you could use that money on a down payment on a new GT. Is your clutch question for a V6 or the GT, just to let you know, you want a car with a manual already in it, converting from an auto to a manual requires a nice deal of cash for just the parts, about 1-1.5K then add installation, which could push you up well over 2K.
you could get one and it'll be fun, but you'll reach your cars limits a lot quicker than a GT or cobra. then you'll have to shell out a bunch of money to get more out of it. i'm almost at the limits on my GT without spending another 3000 or so for forged internals. then i'd need a new tranny and rear end.
if you just want some nice power that'll turn heads and you aren't looking to reach like 700RWHP, then definitely get a supercharger. it's fun to see a v6 beat a GT on the road.

not worth swapping, and I don't think it's worth modding your 6 to get equal power as a GT, because in the end, you'll spend more on the 6er for equivalent power. not to mention that you will be close to maxing out your 6er at ~220whp, which is the starting point of a GT. I know some v6ers have more than 220rwhp, but will you need a built motor to go much higher than that.
I say keep the 6 banger and dump all you got into it, go totally crazy, save your pennies then buy the stage 3 engine from supersixmotorsports, it'll only cost you like 10k, but, for me its better to prove a point and show up all those people that say the V6 mustangs suck, and as the other guy said its awsome when a 6er beats a GT.
Or you could get you GT and dump 10K in it and beat Corvetts, posibly Vipers, and maybe Ferrais. See it cost tons of money just to get a six to run stock GT times, I'm thinking at least 4-6K, and even more to beat it. Look at autobadges, he has the badest 6er here, that can beat almost any stock and even slightly moded GTer here, but his car is about as powerful as you can get without going into racing type setups and think about the loads of cash he has dumped into his ride. I know what your thinking, but it just doesn't seem logical to dump tons of money into a six unless you can truly afford it, me I'm not looking to waiting 3-5 years and investing tons of money into a car that I may, or may not get to running GT times, while risking doing serious damage to the engine, when I could get a GT and have the power I am trying to achieve, add all of the basic bolt ons, some rims, and be done with it, well minus any other exterior and interior cosmettic upgrades. I'm not hating on you guys, I love sixes, I'm still debating on whether or not I'll get rid of mine when I get a GT, but I wanted an GT to begin with and sure, I could fully port out my engine, spend a little over 1.5K to get it done, and maybe reduce my 0-60 times to the low 8s and my 1/4 to the low 15s, or I could get a GT and already be easily running 0-60 in the 7s and hit the 1/4 in the 14s.
i would rather spend a dumptruck full of money on a V6 and beat a ferrari, then 1/2 the money on V8 to do the same, when you roll up w/ the 6 banger emblems on they think you got nothin! Its a awsome felling, even me i straped a MAC cold air on my V6 and i felt so ficken happy when i could beat a 97 Cougar XR7 w/ a V8! The feeling is worth the money. But i do agree w/ you, it is easier to mod a V8 and make more power for less $, but i would rather spend lots $ and have that feeling
