Amplifier questions.......
I know absolutely nothing about this and I have two questions.
1. I'm getting two 800 watt peak 10s in an enclosure, and thinkng about getting a 760 watt max power 2 channel amp. Does the 2 channel mean it gives 760 to each 10 or what?
2. My CD player has left and right amp hook ups, so the amp should just plug up into this right? Will this provide power to the amp and speakers?
Thanks for reply.

the RMS of a sub is the normal wattage that the sub run at, if you dont know you RMS then there is a chance that you might over or under power you subs. I should say on the subs box the RMS and peak of the sub, UNLESS it is a very cheap sub. What brand is it?? As for the CD player, i would say ask a pro. Go to a audio place and just ask, then go from there. Every deck is different, on my pioneer it was just a wire splice in the lead to connect my deck to the amp to keep them in sequence.
well there you go, they are 400 RMS, that means you go out and buy a 400 watt Class D MONO amp, this will sufficently power the subs, multi channel amps are usually used for speakers on subs
OH, and have fun, i promise you, you will blow them subs in like 2 weeks, $100 for subs is way to cheap they will distort and warp very easy, when i first bought subs for my car i cheaped out to, they lasted 3 days and they blew up, now i have 4 boston G5's in my truck, 2 900 watt boston amps, 2 capasators, and some crossovers. Thats almost 500 per sub, 1k per amp, 200 per crossover, and it sounds aswome, when you cheap out you get crap
i just got my sub installed today. friend gave me the sub + amp he had in his car before he sold it. it was a 200watt 2ch amp, so it was bridged together for 400watt. had to buy a new actual sub though, the one in the box was bad.
it's a single 400watt sub. it cost about $79 i think. i had 4 gauge cable run for it, so if i feel the need, i can upgrade to a monster sub + amp later and not have to re-run the wiring.

ya after you get every thing runnin right you can go crazy, but the higher you go the more power you need, you will eventually need a capasitor and/or a 220 amp alt. and those 42% underdrive pulleys are about the worst things for audio systems unless you get a 220 alt and the smallest pulley ever made. W/ my current set-up, i am ruuning a 220 amp alt. and some caps, if i dont let my car run, i can kill a battery in like 7 mins flat.
