Blown Head Gasket
just found out through a diagnostic test that my 97 pony has a blown headgasket......................I have a 97 3.8L auto white stang........i have three options...1. sell it for whatever i can get for it........save money up and fix it..........or use it as a trade in to get another stang prefably 99+ year model.....a little help guys....................what do you think i should do
But what i dont get is that my car runs fine it just heats up way to fast...i don't know how a car is soppused to run when it does have a blown head gasket and my oil dosent have any traces off water in it.......im clueless maybee the diagnostic was wrong?????it runs likes its hitting all cylinders no misfiring??????????????wierd
my car is already paid of.......i don't really have to money at this time for a newer mustang due to the holidays but i was looking for something along the lines of 2000 or up mustang.....

what part of the diagnostic test(ing) did they say shows you have a bad head gasekt? Compression test, leak down, cooling system pressure test...? Have them show you.

they said that when the car was hookeped up to the machine when the started it the computer started showing alot of signals or whatever you call it and the specilist said it was the head gasket i didnt get to see to acual report....i went to a dealership and droped the car off and came back when they were done with it...

Hoenstly, if you've got a blown head gasket...There is going to be something you'll be able to visually notice. It will smoke a lot, there should be anti-freeze in the oil, it will probably run like poop due to the loss of compression. You will usually be able to smell the burning anti-freeze.
If none of these are apparent...Take it somewhere else. Are you any good with a set of tools? Because replacing a head gasket yourself really isn't the end of the world.
