Ford may be ready to get rid of one, just make sure your buy it near the end of the month so that the salesman are squirming to hit their monthly quotas.

autos can be tuned with a hand held and be as fast as a manual, the autos are horrible but not that horrible, i would say they are no more then half a second slower then the 5 speed, and gas milage on a stock 6? i get about 20, 03yellowpony gets 22, with 4.10s, and nanaki gets in the low 20s with a blown and 3.73 geared GT. so gas is irrelivant, also there are more 6ers out there, so insurance is sometimes more because the 6ers have a higher rate of theft according to the insurace company

AHEM, autos are not near as quick as manuals, your thinking of the new autos which have roughly a half a second lag, our years really suffer. A stock 94-98 manual does 0-60 in roughly 9s flat, yea I know pretty pathetic, and that's with an adverage driver. The autos go 0-60 anywhere between 10-10.5s. Now the 99-04 manuals do 0-60 in roughly 7.5s with a decent drivers, now the autos do 0-60 in roughly 8.5-9.5s stock, I know kind of a big range, but some autos respond differently than others. Point is autos are slow as hell, and I'm sorry to say it, but a tuner does not fix the problem now granted they do help, but to see any drastic results you'll have to get gears, a shift kit, and a higher stall torque converter, then and only then will you be equal to a manual, now if you get an auto with more gears in it and do all of these mods, then you'll really be equal to better than a manual if you get your shift points set rigth, because you'll hit your shift every time on the nose, they may or may not.
