You know with 92K miles, you might just want to pick up a rebuild and install it. The labor is going to be the same for dropping it whether you put the old one back in or a new one. If you're not going to keep or mod the car, then you could keep the current transmission. Figure that it might be a 4 hour job, and about 80-100 per hour, maybe 100 in parts, you could be looking at about $500. It could be more or less, depending on their speed and labor rate.

no way, itd cost about $1400. my friend just had the tranny dropped in his 99 cobra and patch it up and stuff. it cost him $400 and his warranty covered $1000 of it. i dont know all the nitty griddy details but i cant see it costing you anything significantly different.

Ok well if you can deal without having your car for like say a week find a Technical Highschool with and Auto Shop. I know this sounds weird and all but they have teachers there that are certified and everything at my School it only cost $10.00 an hour to have them work on it. The only reason it takes so long is because its a school and they teach them about the insides of the trans and **** while they are there. So you might if you are really sprung on money try that, its what my parents are doing(at a regular shop $3000 for rear main seal, new clutch, universals in front end and new hubs. Its only $700 for parts and then labor is $10.00 and hour.)

screw that, find a college with an auto shop. i pay $7 TOTAL for all labor. no matter how long it takes. plus the price of parts.

well when I had my 96 I had a front and rear seal taht leaked also a auto tranny The two seals at Napa only cost me $25. The labor however was prolly about 2 hours for me to do it. Doing a tranny flush and filter is easy just leave the tranny in and drop the pan ( like 10 bolts ) let the fluid drain out and take the filter out put the new one in fill up the tranny and be done with it. That is just the filter change though. If you have any mechanical skills just do it yourself you can learn from it and you can save ALOT of money. Its really not that hard just alot of bolting and unbolting just make sure you have a friend with you cuz when I did mine clutch on my 2000 and I went to put the tranny back in twas heavy by myself and lining it up and such.
