Default Service engine light

I had the code checked and it says there is a leak in the evaporative emission. What does this mean

Check your gas cap. Thats the first thing. If it leaks it will trip that code. We made sooooooooooo much $$ on scanning codes with that one. I just got to the point of doing that first. Ended up saving some ppl $$. Which my boss, the OWNER didn't like. But I was beginning to feel bad cus it's such a simple fix.

Even if it's tight, it may still leak. The seals do break down. If it's tight, take it to a shop or service station and have them test it on the smog machine, or a gas cap pressure tester. If it's just loose, there ya go.

EDIT
If it leaks just a little, the ECU reads the pressure drop and trips a code.

Loss in power? Like how? and how many MPG have you drpped? Try another diagnostics scanner, it could pull up a different error code.

Well I dont know what it is. One of my friends mechanics checked it out and said it wasnt a vacuum leak.
