Just recently I've noticed a difficulty shifting from 2-3 gear. As I go up to third, its like the shifter hits a wall before it can get into 3rd gear. I usually have to search for 3rd gear. I know I'm shifting right because I've had the car for 6 months and it just started doing it. And yes, I'm pushing the clutch all the way in. I was wondering if this problem was from the shifter itself, or if it could be the transmission?
It only does it from 2nd-3rd gear, no other gears.

 

have you tried double clutching, it could be a synchro is it grinding the gear?

 

weird i have the same year and i dont have that problem..? Maybe your pushing the shifter up to third to fast or somthing? Only problem i have is trouble finding the trunk opener =P

If your synchros are going, youll have that hard time. Does it feel like youre pushing, then it kinda just pops into gear? Or, does it feel like you hit the area between 1ist and 3rd gear on the shifter?

Every so often, i miss third gear, by hitting that little "wall" between 2nd and 3rd, and ive been driving mine for about a year. It happens.

It could be your driving, and it could be your shifter. Mustang shifters are known to get sloppy, which is why the aftermarket has many choices.

 

Yeah shifter could just be getting loose on you. If it was a synchro you would hear it grinding so thats probably not it.
