Default Flow Through Hood!

Hey,

Not really sure where this goes but thought that some of you other sixers might like this and some of you might not. I thought this was going to be a lot harder than this was. I took my GT hood off my car and made it actually flow air. I know this isen't the first time this has been done but I found it actually to be easier than I thought it would be. And I thought that some of you might want to see some pics of the progress.

Hey it was free liquor so I will drink it any day. And I actually prefer liquor over beer, sorry to say. And I am actually going to make the wholes bigger or remove the plastic piece completely and add something different.

Couldnt a functional scoop on a V6 actually be bad for the engine? Not equipped to handle rain, snow, etc....

I dont know.. someone said that on here one time...

Like Sickspackstang said it's not really allowing that much air in, so there won't be much water/snow/things getting in.

I agree. Maybe not much thought went into what's going to happen when cold water pools up on the top of the hot engine. There are some things under the hood that don't like getting soaked. But to each their own.[&:]

Yea I say a good idea, but bad application. Good idea in that you are trying to keep your engine cooler, bad idea in that you didn't think about the water thing. Also, the engine shouldn't rust as just about all of the parts are aluminum, but some of the steal bolts, screws, and mounts will have some problems. Now aluminum will get a serious calcium build up on it which will cause your engine to look but ugly, but a good scrub brush and calcium remover will take it right off.

Well I was a little worried about what everyone was saying about water and things getting in through the holes. So today while I was washing my car I made it a purpose to spray water in through the holes to see how much water actually got into the engine bay. Well I lifted the hood to see what was wet and to my surprise nothing got into the engine except for when I lifted my hood a few drops fell into it. So I am a little less worried now about it.
