Damn Harv, 3000rpms at 75, F**K, I sit around 1900rpms at 75, but I also get about 27-28 mpg on mostly hwy driving.
BS! especially on a 98
i say BS period unless your driving 55 mph with windows up and NO AC on and driving like a grandma

mythbusters actually did something on the whole driving with the AC on. it's actually better to drive with it off and the windows down at higher speeds. or maybe it was the other way around. either way. yeah. no way you're getting 28.

it's not BS

the 94-98 V6's were rated 19 city and 29 hwy

my 98 before i started modding it got 28.5 on long trips with stpck 2.73's in it

you get better mileage with the AC on and windows up at higher speeds because of less drag generated with the windows up

hell my 97 3800 firebird got 31mpg on a long trip with stock 3.08's

i don't know where all you guy's are coming from saying that a V6 stang can't get 28mpg or because they only get 23 or 24

maybe driving style has alot ot do with it and gears also has alot to do with it.

i dont care what anybody says 4.10;s are hard on gas. it goes against the laws of physics to say that 4.10's won't decrease you mileage significantly compared to stock 2.73's or 3.27's

you engine is turning that much faster/mile and you injectors are sqirting more/mile. havine similar mileage with steper gears just isn't gonna happen. if you find a way for it to happen i'm sure NASA would love to hire you cause you are one hell of a genius

my 98 v6 NEVER got anywhere near 29mpg. that thing was taken care of like a baby it's whole life. when i traded it in in 04 for my current car, i was averaging about 21mpg highway. i filled up more often with my 98 than i do with my supercharged GT.

OK, that's nearly all hwy travels. Let's see, I go 92 miles one way to school, 92 miles back in the same day, then I go to work the next day, yet again, mostly interstate, then back home, that's about 20 miles, so then it's 92 back to Baton Rouge and then 20 to Walker where I fill up on the way home. So that comes out to about 316, now when I fill up I'm usually around 12 gallons, so that leaves me with an adverage of about 3.7 gallons left, so take 316/12 and that equals about 26 mpg, which is damn close to 28, and sometimes the numbers work out to be 27.X so that's really close to 28, but unless I do a nice bit of city travel, rarely will I drop below 24 mpg, and even when I do I still get about 300-330 on a tank of gas. And yes there is a little bit of flooring it involved, but with 125 hp, that won't quite be enough to really suck you dry on gas.

something was terribly wrong with it as most stock 3.8's almost do that in the city
