Are these safe?
i make no guarantees about gains in mileage from acetone, however ive got some comments.
1. my brothers suburban which failed the tailpipe emissions test a year before passed this year with flying colors using acetone (wayyyyy better numbers than my mustang). if you've got a car that might not pass smog, try it, you'll be surprised.
2. a gallon has 128 oz. 1-3 oz of acetone per 1280 oz of gas is not going to harm anything.
3. it would be wise to put acetone in before pumping gas so you mix it up well
look into xylene also, some people use it. it's really all trial and error and you'll need to have consistent conditions to be sure that you had gains strictly from the acetone unless the numbers are just that much better.

I don't know if your old enough to remember when they introduced Gas-O-haul. A mix of, I think 5% alcohol with the gasoline. It really messed up all the carburetors that ran it. The fuel pumps and the rubber fuel lines. This stuff may do nothing to the seals and all the rest of the components of the fuel system, I have no Idea, But to say even a small amount "is not going to harm anything." is just not good advise to give people.

AT LEAST USE GOOGLEBEFORE YOU MAKE INCORRECT ASSERTIONS ON A SUBJEST OF WHICH YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT!!!
I'm puting it in my tank tomorrow, the worst it will do is NOT give me 50mpg, I have no fear of damage. You probably have more than 2oz of WATER per 10 gallons you get at a gas station anyway, and water is very bad for an engine, but even small doses won't hurt anything. I've run r/c car 33% nitromethane mix and water through my intake to clean my engine and the motor didn't even stumble like it would with seafoam, yet it ran phenomenonally better afterwards.
