Default Weird Noise...

idk what it is but i was driving today and i made a slight turn right and there was this squeeling noise. not the noise when you turn the steering wheel fully to the right or left. this was like an actual squeeling noise. i cant get a good explanation of it but what could it be??

Could be your power steering pump starting to go out.

If it makes the 'squeal' all the time, then you can diagnose ... if it's intermittent, then it's more difficult. If it's only when you're driving, then it's probably suspension, if it can be duplicated when you're stopped (just turning the front wheels) then it's probably the serpentine belt or P/S pump (remote chance). Noises seldomly 'go away' ...

what kind of sound a whine or a squeal

a whine is usualy a bad ps pump or a ps pump out of fluid

and a squeal could be the belt when you make the ps pump work and you have a bad belt it will actualy make the belt squeal some times

i really dont know what it is.. its a squeal. its not the PS pump bc thats the sound when you turn the wheel all the way.. its not the belt. its coming from like the right front tire it seems when i move the steering wheel about a 1/4 of a full turn

no when a power steering pump is running low on fluid or has run low and has been re filled it will whine almoust like a supercharger sound because the pump cools and lubricates its self by the ps fluid and it that runs out you will ruin the pump and it will whine

the sound you are hearing when you cut it the whole way is the relief valve becase if that wasnt their and you turned the whole way and held for a sec or 2 you would blow the ends out of the rack and pinion just like you would do if you stepped on the brakes when the calipers where off or if the rear shoes where off you would blow the pistons right out
