Default Noticeable performance from cold air intake

Before I get ripped, I'm new to the whole performance add-on thing but I have heard alot about cold air intakes increasing horsepower and fuel economy. I saw something in reference to the K&N cold air systems adding 7+/- horsepower at 5,000 rpm's. My question is would you see any noticeable performance from a cold air intake in normal driving situations? I seldom see my tach get above 3,000 during normal driving.

Thanks,
Mike

For your model, sn-197s, CAIs do add a slightly noticible bit of performance, however, due to the stock tune Ford uploaded in the vehicles, the cars ecu must be flash tuned to continue to work properly after a CAI is installed. So in short, you'll need both a CAI and and tuner (such as Diablo or X Cal) to make everything operate smoothly.

All in all you'll gain around 15 rwhp once both are done, which is much better than the 7-10 rwhp a sn-95 will recieve.

Oh, one more thing, stay away from the K&N systems, for some reason K&N systems have caused problems with vehicles and more specifically the MAF working properly. Don't ask me how though. Look into a JLT or BBK brand instead.

Read the post I made under the Headers/CAI 4.0L topic. These (R2C Performance )are the best systems produced by far. Don't waste money on K&N or other oiled cotton gauze systems.

and a late model I can actually afford to drive!
