btw, I am not sure if this is old news or what but ever since we bought our Freestar I have been trying to find out of the engine is a RWD block as per the rumors as to why the 04' V6 got the 3.9L that year instead of the 3.8L
It would seem that the rumors are true, I found some interchange information today that show the same 3.9 or 4.2L engine is the same interchange for the 04-07 Freestar as it is to the F150 and E150 and the block itself to the Mustang.
So thats pretty neat info that this transversely mounted engine is a RWD block.

I hope someone is out there, I was changing the filter on the tranny and a round yellow thing was in the pan. It had a point on one side and concave on the other . It also looks like it has a seal around the circumference. The question is , Where does it go and what is it for? Please help.
