high HP V6 help!
ok, heres the deal, i have a 99 V6 and an 04 GT, was thinking about it and i may want to sell the GT and just beef up the V6 with some turbo action... i would be able to sell the GT, prolly get more HP out of the V6, pay less for insurance by having just 1 car, and prolly still have money left over to pay off some loans... so what steps would i have to take to beef up my V6, im just hitting 72k miles now...any high HP V6 guys wanna share their build with me? lol
havent fully built a 3.8, but it depends on your tune, fuel system, and how much boost you want to run, on a stock motor 12-14 psi will net you like 380-400 HP and be DDable with a good dyno tune. if you have plans to do the motor run 14 psi, now it will hold 14 psi fine for a DD... but its just one of those things its better to start preping for it to happen BEFORE it happens, but with 72k id say you would be fine for atleast another 30k with a turbo
start with your basics, exhaust with LTs and 2.5" piping all the way down. Then do rear end, id suggest going with a detroit true trac in the stock 7.5 if you plan on being less then 450 rwft.lb,
now if you want more then ~450 hp, swap in an 8.8 or find a 9" with a detroit or eaton E-locker and 31 splines. Then suspention, (LCA/UCA, springs, shocks, maybe a tubular K member, upgrade to cobra/mach 1 brakes. then go to tranny, id do a G force T5 OR a stalled/shift kit/GOOD tranny cooler 4R70. The power you make wont make a differance if you
A.) cant get it to the ground
B.) keep braking stuff, dont buy cheap parts, you want to play you got to pay,

a turbo kit is 4k, and well worth it, andy does good work. if your willing to settle for about 70 less HP for half the price you can PM "mysteed" for an eaton M112 adapter kit (cobra supercharger)
also; blower whine > turbo
also my insurance was actually more expensive on my v6 vert then a GT coupe
i must be board and drunk; i actually made an informative post tonight

well, my plan was to put the 8.8 rear, 31 spline axles and cobra posi rear, then drop the turbo, i saw tma thats def the way id go... throw some dr's on those factory 15's and be off, lol...see, money wont be much of a factor cuz when im done parting out/selling the GT id be working with somewhere around $18,000..id prolly limit myself to investing no more than $10,000 into it...ill do a rear seat delete and racing seats just cuz i hate the cloth seats, but besides that id do the motor up good, prolly new heads, cams, pistons, suspension...id say with $10,000 invested into a V6 stang you could make some serious power, get a serious 1/4 mile time, and be way better off than beefing up a GT...much cheaper too
Sounds fairly good, but I hope you aren't thinking you're gonna get $10-18k for an 04 GT, they aren't going for much more than $8-9k with VERY low miles on them right now.
I'd go with the TMA TT kit. It may cost a little more, but it's worth it. If you want 450hp to the wheels, you'll definately need a forged bottom end. You can strengthen the bottom end and run some good poerted heads and a nice cam for around $7-8k and be bullet proof with a 4.3. A stock 3.8 will handle 450hp, but the rods will bend, they're powdered anyway.

ill get that much for my GT cuz im assuming ill return it to stock and part out all aftermarket parts... and was that 7-8 to have it ported with cams and everything or was that just for the port job...was that including the turbo and ****?
Be smart when you spend money on the Six and you'll be fine. Just don't waste time/money on little foofy parts. Go big or go home. Find a good 4.2L short block, do the heads/cam/intake and slap a turbo on it.
