high HP V6 help!
I think it has to do with what people expect out of a car. People expect a v8 to be fast where as a v6 isn't expected to show any type of speed or power.
Because it's cool to make more power with less cylinders.
A 600 hp V6 is cooler than a 600 V8 just on that idea alone.
Hp/tq per cylinder is what impresses me. 4 popped, sixer, V8 or even the V10/V12 cars.
The other number I really love is % increase over stock. Seeing a 300 hp V8 that started out at 270 is crap compared to a 300 hp V6 that started out at 190.

The 2v isn't that good of a v8 platform for performance... BUT if I were you, I'd mod whatever had the most power to begin with - the 4.6. You do the same mods to the 4.6 as the 3.8 and you're still going to have 70-100 more hp.
I know I sound like a fanboy (and will probably get flamed), but sell the GT and get a LS1 before they are all junk and have some real fun. Keep the v6 for a DD. $9K for a mullet mobile + $5k in goodies = a 450+ rwhp N/A car. The aftermarket will remain strong for the LS1 for quite some time... just like the 5.0. Mod the v6 a little at a time if you wish.
In the end, it all comes down to money.
