I'd f*ckin sue him. I would go to his house with my car and show him what his dog did... It's his responsibility. It's not like this was a deer who belonged to the wild...

And if he didn't give me the money for the new bumper + paint, there would be BIG problems

lol. I'm leaning towards taking him to court. I showed him what his dog did and such he apologized for his neglect.

But I am preparing for the worst lol.

Just because you're a responsible dog owner doesn't mean your dog can't get out of your sight. Its like asking you if you are a responsible driver? hell I don't know, you said you were doing about 60 MPH in a who knows what. You're going to try to sue? see what they say if they find out about you speeding. If that was a little kid you hit because of your irresponsible driving (not sure if your speeding or not) I'm sure you'd be the one getting F'd here.

^ 60 in a 65. the cop has witness statements of the dog running out of a feild chasing another animal.

Also the owner of the dog admitted that he was at fault by "taking the dog off and not keeping it chained".

I understand you are a dog lover (as am I, I take proper measures to insure that my dog has no way to get to the road to cause a accident).

If you're going to throw the "if it was a little kid" thing up then I hope that you or anyone else would be a responsible parent/guardian and have the kid in the house and not playing on the road at 1am.

I respect that then. And yes, i agree having a little kid out at 1 AM? might as well have your kid up for adoption. I just lost a dog yesterday due to a terrible accident. Im not trying to be an A hole or anything. But it seems like the owner admitted fault to it... oh well sh** happens.

I am a dog lover myself, but it's the owners responsibility to take care of his or her dog. If that dog gets out of my site, i am at fault God forbid something happens to somebody. No doubt about that. Who elses fault would it be as the owner? I know of two people in my school who hit other people with their cars... The other people weren't in the cross walk. Guess whose fault it was? -- The people not in the crosswalk. Nobody said that the rules and laws of our society are perfect, but what if the dog got out and happened to bite a kid late at night? Say goodbye to that dog bc it's going to be put to sleep bc of the owners inability to control the dog.

All i'm saying is that if some dog came running out and i nailed it and found the owner and my car was messed up, i'm not eating the $600+ for a new 99/01 cobra front bumper if i can do something about it. The guy's gotta take responsibility. It IS his fault. You should have talked to the cop about that one while he was taking your statement...

He needs to pay... Myself personally I would have told him "look, I could give 2 s***s about your dog, you will be paying for this, have a nice day"

No possible way I'm going to ever eat cost for something not my fault.

^ lol.

Well a slight update......I got a quote from a body shop for almost $1700 worth of damage repairs.

Spoke with insurance agent and was told that IF I claimed it then it wouldn't raise my premium..

Also decided that I will take another direction with my car.....im thinking stock front, smoked fog lights, smoked head lights (clear corners), mach 1 chin and grill delete.
