always bring some quick spray detailer, tire shine, armour all, a clean micro fiber and a sh*t rag with you so you can wipe down your rims again, and shine the outside and seats up when you get there. ohh and a couple hot chicks will always pay off and help in the awards department

I like meguires quick detailer

also, avoid armor-all for the interior vynals- looks good on leather, but on the plastics it gives a greasy feel. id suggest NXT ICE for the dash, and door panels. ont he GFs car, I use armor all on teh seats, ICE on the rest. makes the interior really look good.

a couple other tips-

Dont apply tire shine until you get to the show- it will get thrown up onto the fenders and bumper

POR15 the wheelwells, makes them BLACK, not brown, grey, or poop.

bring something to clean windows with
Meh, I havnt been to any good car shows in a very long time. Detailing the car is for me more than a show.

+1 to the tire shine, but I usually dont use it at all.

+1 to the wheel wells, it helps bring more attention to the wheels.
My rear wheel wells are silver inside though, they were black before cleaning them.

Thats all I use too for my quick detailer.

Armor all is on my ****list, never again.... never again....

The only highly competitive car show that I have been to was Kool April Nights back up in Redding Ca. It wasnt for any of my cars but my friends 69' Chevelle.
We spent forever detailing his car each year we went to that show.

we POR15's the GF's, best part is nothing sticks to it- its just spraying it out after that. Im going to be doing mine when the rearend is pulled. also doing the whole rearend while its out.

I love how clean my car is the day of shows- although Ive never won anything anywhere.

Im actually going to pay for a real detail on my car this year...since its not a DD anymore, i want it to look the part. although my interior is spotless- ive gotten told many times "how did you keep a DD's interior looking brand new?". was cleaner then my friends new 08!
