Hey everyone , just joined. I haven't gotten my Mustang yet because I'm having the worst trouble deciding which one to get. I've mostly been looking at the 2000-2004 models. and I can't decide between one from dealership (2003 V6 65,000 miles) or one from a friend (2000 V6 120,000 miles) the 2000 is a fraction of the price. Given everyones experience with Mustangs here how much more could I get out of the 2000 and how much do you think I'll have to put in to it?

Welcome to the MF Forums. And as for the 2000 car it all depends on how well it was taken care of. How long has your friend owned the car? How well was it taken care of while he owned it. Any issues? Why is he getting rid of it? Yes the 03 has lower mileage but you still don't know how it was taken care of. It could have 65,000 beat to sh** miles, or an old lady drove it to the store. Also due to the age I suspect this car is going to have a very limited warranty from the dealer. Also which one of the two cars are in overall better condition. V6 motor replacement is a lot cheaper than body work. You could always have a mechanic look over your friends car. Check compression etc... . Good luck with whatever you purchase.

Welcome, and yes I would check the overall condition of the car and highway miles are going to show less wear on the car and have less wear on the engine than would hard city/track miles.

120k isn't anything if the care was taken care of properly. My car has almost 190k on it now and it is still going strong

knock on wood
